The Brown Debating Union, established in 1824, is the second oldest active university debating organization in the United States. The BDU competes around the globe in debating competitions and has consistently been one of the most successful teams in the country, with debaters finding national and international success. More importantly, we are a close group of friends, working together, supporting each other, and having fun everywhere we go. We are a no-cut team, meaning we accept students from all backgrounds and experience levels of debate. Anyone is welcome to join!

Will tournaments be in-person this year?
Yes! We are so excited to finally be debating in-person again, with the exception of a few online tournaments still happening. Check out our Calendar page to see upcoming tournaments!
Are masks required at in-person tournaments?
Wearing a mask is encouraged at in-person tournaments, but it is no longer mandatory.
